Advisory for Principals

The provision of school related data is critical for planning at the district, national and school levels. At the Ministry we are aware of the challenges posed to Principals by frequent requests for school data.  To address this challenge, we are in the process of developing a system that will effectively coordinate data collection, analysis and reporting. We expect to have results from that system by next year so that not only will there be fewer demands made of you for provision of data but reports will also be available to you to assist in management of your schools.

We are now seeking your cooperation for the completion of the 2011/2012 Annual Statistical Return (ASR). 

The Ministry of Education, in an effort to provide timely, accurate and reliable data has developed a new approach to its data capture, analysis and reporting. Commencing with the academic year September 2011 to July 2012, and with effect from November 2011, the following will obtain for the completion and submission of the data for primary and secondary schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago:

• November 30 of each year has been designated as the School Census Day.  In this regard, the information provided in the electronic or hard copy ASR forms should reflect students’ and teachers’ data as at that date;
•  If possible, data on each school must be provided in an electronic format. An electronic copy of the ASR, instructions for completion of the questionnaire and samples of completed questionnaires can be accessed via the Ministry’s website, www.moe.gov.tt , from November 21, 2011 or alternatively at the Education District Offices from November 23, 2011;

•  The completed questionnaire is to be submitted
