VOIX - AN ART GALLERY

Trevor Byron is the curator of Voix-an Art Gallery. Though a personal interview was not conducted, a portion of his speech is shown below.

“I have always been a believer. I have always had faith. Some twenty-six (26) years ago, while teaching at Fyzabad A.C. Secondary School this dream took root. One year later as an artist representing Trinidad in Martinque at “Symboise Regard” I met a gallery owner at Saint Pierre, Martinique. We became friends and I worked very briefly with him at his Gallery on three subsequent visits to Martinique. My dream became even stronger then. Finally I made a decisive decision to retire early from teaching and open my own Gallery. Thus the Southern Art Gallery opened its doors on 27 th April, 2002. Funding came only from my gratuity and subsequent loans. It was indeed an upward struggle. Natasha (his spouse) was at my side from the very beginning: constructing, painting, hanging paintings and helping with the décor.

We started with approximately thirty-five (35) artists and one hundred and fifty paintings, a memorable and beautiful opening.

We have grown from strength, dedicating our efforts to the promotion of Visual Art and Crafts. We are now Voix - An Art Gallery and our dedication and efforts remain the same. ”
