This is the most prized of all the wetland of Trinidad and Tobago.It is located in the South-Easterly part of Trinidad and stretches some 6,000 hectares which includes vegetation such as Palm forest,Mangrove trees and Sea Grasses.

 

 

 

The ecology of the swamp too is pretty unique in nature as this wetland is home to many animals .Among the animals that dwell here are the Cascadura fish ,which is known far and wide in this Island to be quite a delicacy.There is also a large amount of Waterfowl that live which live in the swamp.A large number of Anacondas,mollusks,crustaceans and the state-protected Manatees.

 

 

 

The preservation of the Nariva swamp has fallen to the duty of all of us citizens of this lovely twin Island state as without our care and concern this beautiful and very beneficial scenery could become extinct.So all nature lovers and activist must educate themselves ,visit and become conscious of the Treasure that is the Nariva Swamp.
