In Trinidad and Tobago we have many types of museums that showcase the wonderful art and culture of this beautiful and unique twin island republic.

National Museum and Art Gallery
This museum is located in Port-of-Spain, On Frederick Street, opposite Memorial Park and south of Queen’s Park Savannah. Established in 1892 and originally called the Royal Victoria Institute, this museum houses some 1,000 items, including a collection of paintings by Michel–Jean Cazabon. Among the items displayed in their seven major galleries are petroleum and geological exhibits, the permanent and natural art collection and Trinidad’s Carnival arts.

The Museum of Trinidad and Tobago's Police Service
This museum is located on the corner of St. Vincent Street and Sackville Street in Port-of-Spain. The museum chronicles the history of the Police Service of Trinidad and Tobago through the years and makes it available to the public through guided tours.

The Central Bank Money Museum
This museum details the history of Trinidad and Tobago’s currency as it changed through the ages and continues to change. It tells the story of the history of Trinidad and Tobago’s money and the role that the Central Bank played in shaping the economical and financial landscape of T&T. It is located on the ground floor of the Eric Williams Financial Complex, Independence Square, Port-of-Spain.

Chaguaramas Military and Aerospace Museum
Located near the Chaguaramas Heliport and occupying what used to be the seaplane ramp of the American World War II military base, this museum attempts to cover the 500 years of recorded Caribbean History from the arrival of Columbus to the museum’s own tentative steps into aerospace. Apart from the model kit planes and figures of men, the entire display was scratch built, from the churning water through which the carrier glides to the tiny fire hoses draped over paperclips. It’s hard to miss the real (and real old) Coast Guard boat or the LARC amphibious vessel on the compound as you drive past.

Cleaver Woods Museum
Set in a pine wood with picnic tables and ajoupas throughout the property, located on Arima Old Road, D’Abadie in East Trinidad. At Cleaver Woods one can view a thatched hut containing Amerindian artifacts such as cooking and fishing utensils, drawings and furniture. It also displays ancient hunting tools and is a popular destination for those interested in local history.

Maha Sabha Indian Caribbean Museum
This museum is found on Waterloo Road, Carapichaima and near to the famous temple in the sea at Waterloo. The Indian Caribbean Museum is the only one of its kind in the world and is dedicated to the preservation of material history of over one million descendants of East Indians/South Asians. The collections include old items such as rare musical instruments, cooking utensils ancient photographs and historical books. The museum also houses and art gallery and a reference library and a botanical garden which houses some rare endangered plants of Indian origin.
