Waterfalls in Trinidad

Edith Falls
Edith Falls is a magnificent three-tier waterfall that is most beautiful in the rainy season. This waterfall is located in an abandoned cocoa estate on the eastern side of Morne Catherine. Edith falls commands a view of the Chaguaramas Public Golf Course. The hike is moderate with a wonderful reward of seeing the Falls plunge 180 metres. The hike is a reward in itself as one experiences flora and fauna in their natural habitats. Striking rain forest, red heliconias, and bamboo amongst an array of colourful flora soothes the eyes while Red Howler Monkeys can be heard and probably seen.



Maracas Waterfall
The Maracas Waterfall is located in the Northern Range but, more specifically, in the upper part of the Maracas Valley. The Maracas Waterfall is 91.5 m high giving it the title of being the highest in Trinidad and Tobago. The refreshing and tranquil atmosphere that surrounds this waterfall makes it ideal for picnickers, campers, swimmers, bird- watchers and all- round nature lovers. An easy 2.4 km hike from the road can take you to this beautiful sight.


Rincon Waterfall
Located in the Rincon Valley on the outer edges of Las Cuevas, is a waterfall, Rincon Waterfall. The waterfall is a 250-foot descent culminating in a large pool that is appropriate for taking a dip in the refreshing waters. This North Coast waterfall requires a hike of approximately 1 ½ hours that takes one past small farms and quite a few clear streams.



Marianne or Avocat Waterfall
Another North Coast waterfall is the Avocat Waterfall. Located in the vicinity of Blanchisseuse, this 65-foot waterfall culminates in a small pool. After a short 30-minute hike, one can cool down in the refreshing spray or dive into the deep pool at the base of the waterfall. Although short, one can experience a lot of bird life along the hike. For instance, kingfishers, trogons, and honeycreepers can be seen, just to name a few.


Paria Waterfalls
Paria Waterfall is located on the North Coast near to Brasso Seco, a small village in the Northern Range. A short trail from Paria Beach leads to Paria waterfall. Below the falls, there is a clear, deep pool that is suitable for bathing. The heliconia, fringed lilies, and philodendron that border the pool in part, create the peaceful atmosphere.


Sobo Falls
The Brasso Seco area is home to approximately eleven waterfalls, Sobo falls being one of them. This gorgeous 65-foot waterfall can be viewed after a short walk from the village of Brasso Seco. It falls as a single flow about 25 feet and then bounces off the rocks as it becomes a spray waterfall and ultimately, it spreads out to become a shower.


Rampanalgas Falls
Located in Rampanalgas, this two level waterfall requires a short hike of approximately only twenty-five minutes. Both upper and lower levels have pools that are suitable bathing with the lower pool being small and deep, making it suitable for swimming.


Brasso Seco Twin Falls
The Brasso Seco Twin Falls are located in Brasso Seco. The Twin Falls are a ten-minute walk from the Marianne Main Road. At the top, the water splits into two streams. One of the streams falls straight down while the other tumbles in stages over the rock. It ends in a bathing pool that is superb for relaxing.


Rio Seco Falls
The Rio Seco Waterfall is located on the North Eastern Coast of Trinidad, near Toco. The waterfall finishes in a deep, striking emerald green pool. If one continues further upriver, the Rio Seco Sulphur Springs can be found.


Matura or Manuelot Waterfalls
Located within the Matura forests, this captivating waterfall is known both as the Matura Waterfall and as the Manuelot Falls. It is formed at the meeting of the Matura River and the Manuelot River. The limestone that serves as canvas for the clear water enhances this waterfall’s magnificence. The demanding three-hour hike through the Mora forest is rewarded with the sight of this beauty and a refreshing dip in the wide pool at its base.


Turure Waterfalls
The three stunning spread type waterfalls located within the Cumaca forest are known as the Turure Waterfalls. The waterfalls are immediately after each other on the Turure River. The hike to these waterfalls takes about 35 to 45 minutes. The walk is pleasant as one passes through untouched tropical rain forest while listening to the songs of the bell bird. The hikers are rewarded with the magnificence of the crystal clear water cascading down limestone. Nothing short of a treat is the opportunity to bathe in any one of the pools at the base of each waterfall. The third waterfall culminates in several pools of varying depth.


Blue Basin Waterfalls
The Blue Basin Falls are located in north of the Diego Martin Village. After a five-minute walk down a bridle path, the scenic waterfall comes into sight. The falls are formed from the Diego Martin River. The pool formed at its base is bordered by lush tropical vegetation.

Argyle Waterfalls
Argyle Waterfall is located near Roxborough, Tobago. This is a picturesque three- tiered waterfall with deep pools. The hike is easy and the pools at the base of each kevel are deep with cool, refreshing water that are ideal for bathing.


Gold and Silver Waterfalls - Main Ridge
Unlike the usual waterfalls that attract people because of their cascading nature and pools for bathing, the Gold and Silver Waterfalls are unique in that their beauty lies in the mineral deposits that give colour to the rock behind the trickling water. The gold and silver hues give the falls their name.


Two River Waterfall, Goldsborough
The hike to this waterfall is worthwhile as one can admire the gorgeous, abundant, lush flora and colourful fauna. The cool, refreshing water splashes down into a huge pool at the base of the waterfall before flowing down stream, dividing into two separate waterways.
