The International Cooperation Initiatives Unit
The Ministry of Education (MOE) established the International Cooperation Initiatives Unit (UICI) in 2005 in order to facilitate its objective of improving the quality and equity of education while recognizing the impact of globalisation on this sector. Trinidad and Tobago has ranked education as the top national priority for achieving its goal of fully developed country status by 2020 .The UICI is committed to deepening the thrust of the MOE to build its portfolio in respect of bi-lateral and multi-lateral cooperation in education. This Unit is the first point of contact for agencies and organizations wishing to partner with the Ministry. Currently, the UICI is working on cooperation initiatives with the Organisation of American States (OAS), the Commonwealth, CARICOM Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) among others. The horizontal cooperation emerging from these initiatives support the MOE's vision of Excellence in Education.
The International Cooperation Initiatives Unit of the Ministry of Education of Trinidad and Tobago works with several different Regional and International Organization.
