New School Term Opens Successfully
The new academic year has opened successfully with minor incidents
at two schools. With over seven hundred (700) schools in Trinidad and Tobago Minister
of Education the Honourable Anthony Garcia praised the hard work of the
Education Facilities, Procurement and Planning Division (EFPPD) of the Ministry
of Education along with The National Maintenance Training and Security Company
Limited (MTS) for their commitment to the over two hundred and fifty thousand
children who access education in this country.
Minister Garcia visited the Arima Hindu School this morning to see
first-hand the work that went into the preparation of the new space that the
school will be occupying since being decanted from the Temple Street structure.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Education Dr the Honourable Lovell Francis
was also on the ground visiting Tranquility Government Primary School and East
Mucarpo Secondary School ensuring that the works to be completed were
effectively done and the schools were operating smoothly.
The St. Finbar’s RC School was unable to open its doors to staff and
students today as a water problem hindered the school’s sanitation and cleaning.
The students of decanted Carapichaima Anglican School were also delayed by the transportation
from the Public Transport Service Commission (PTSC) being unable to take the
students to the new location today. St. Finbar’s RC School is being monitored
and the sanitation exercise is underway while for Carapichaima Anglican, the
Ministry is working with the PTSC to provide transport to students.
Minister Garcia also went on to commend and thank all stakeholders
in education for their continued commitment and service to the development of
the future human resource of this country.
