Beach Camp Primary School Wins Boys’ Under-15 Football Title

The Beach Camp Primary School football team fought back bravely to win the Atlantic National Primary Schools Football League Boys’ Under-15 League after trailing 2-1 to win by a 3-2 margin over Tobago’s Montgomery Government Primary School at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. In so doing, the boys in yellow and brown displayed the positive aspects of the Ministry of Education’s Physical Education and Sports Curriculum, which is discipline, teamwork and learning how to win and lose graciously.

Although being physically smaller than their opponents, the Beach Camp players rose to the challenge and unleashed goal after goal on their opponents. The Montgomery’s defence cracked under the Beach Camp’s  skills, as the nippy striker Andell Gabriel stole the show by scoring the equaliser to level the score line at 2 all.

The momentum in the game shifted and it was the Beach Camp school team who held the upper hand. The vociferous crowd of Beach Camp supporters urged on their team to dig deep in their souls to come up with a victory. Their moment of triumph came just before the final whistle when the skilful Gabriel again broke through Montgomery’s defence and slotted home from close range to send his team and supporters into utter ecstasy. The final score was 3-2 to the Beach Camp boys from deep south.

The Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education, presented medals to the Beach Camp Primary and Montgomery Government Primary School teams, as well as a championship trophy to the Beach Camp squad.

Also in attendance was Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Shamfa Cudjoe and Member of Parliament for La Brea Nicole Olliviere.
