Number Conservation Go Fish Rules

Give 4 cards to each player (a group of 2 or 3 children). Place the remaining cards
in a pile face down between the players. Players hold their cards so they are able
to see them, but no one else can.
Before starting the game, all of the players put any pairs of cards with the same
number of dots they have in their hand down and earn a point for each pair.
Starting with the youngest player and moving clockwise, the player asks one of the
opponents “Do you have a card with ___ dots?” The card requested should have
the same number of dots like the one the player has in his/her hand.
If the opponent has the card, he/she must give it to the player who earns a point for
making a match. If the opponent does not have the card he/she says “Go Fish!”
The player must then pick a single card from the pile. If he/she makes a pair, he/
she places it down and earns a point.
If a player runs out of cards, he/she picks one from the pile.
The game is won by the person with the most points when all the cards are gone.

Number Conservation Domino Rules

Flip over all the dominoes so that the blank side is up. Each player selects 5 dominoes. Put the rest of the dominoes in
a draw pile. Lay the dominoes facing you on the table. Help young children count the dots on the dominoes they have
chosen.
Who Goes First?
To determine who goes first let each child select a random domino from the draw pile. The child who selects the domino with the highest number of dots plays first. Play continues around the table in a clockwise motion. Return the
dominoes used to determine the player order to the draw pile, face down.
Playing the Game
The first player chooses a domino and places it in the centre of the table.
Help children count the dots on each side of the domino so that they understand that they have to match the numbers. Add to the fun by clapping as you count.
Continue to play around the table. During each turn, each child selects a domino from his pile and matches it to the
side of the dominoes in the centre.
If the child has no domino to match, he picks a domino from the draw pile. When the draw pile is empty, he passes
without making a move.
Monitor the dominoes of the younger players. Observe what moves they can make, and then ask them to find the
pieces they need from their piles. For example, if they can match a half with five dots, point to the piece in play on the
table, and count the dots out loud. Ask them to find dominoes in their own piles that match the selected domino.
Continue playing rounds until each player finishes or there is no more moves.
