MOE meets with Stakeholders on Draft Guidelines for the Re-opening of Schools


Ministers Nyan Gadsby-Dolly and Lisa Morris-Julien, along with the Executive and Directors at the MOE, met with education stakeholders this afternoon from 4-6pm to discuss, in detail, the draft Reopening Guidelines for Academic Year 2021/22.
The stakeholders present were:

1. Private Special Schools Assoc of T&T
2. Private Secondary Schools Assoc
3. Assoc of Principals of Assisted Secondary Schools
4. Assoc of Denominational Boards (3 representatives , including the Catholic and Presbyterian Boards)
5. Private Primary Schools Assoc
6. National Parent Teacher Assoc
7. Assoc of Principals of Public Secondary Schools
8. Secretary of Education, Innovation and Energy, THA

The MOE thanks all stakeholders for their thoughtful input and valuable, wide-ranging recommendations,  which included specific considerations for filling staffing vacancies, close supervision of students and the need for facile access to substitute teachers, vaccination of older students and all non-teaching staff, isolation for infants from students in higher classes, provision of adequate cleaning supplies and masks to schools, prioritization of attendance for examination students, clarity and standardization in the classification of flu-like symptoms, additional data-entry support for schools and increased support services for students, parents and teachers.

The MOE looks forward to TTUTA’s confirmation of attendance at the previously scheduled meeting on Tuesday, 13th July at 4pm to continue these critical discussions, as well as another stakeholder meeting, carded for the Friday, 16th July, at which other stakeholders, including the individual Denominational Boards, will be invited to give their comments and recommendations.
