Tobago Hospitality & Tourism Institute is Tobago’s premier tertiary education institution that develops human capital for the hospitality, tourism and related sectors. THTI offers Associate Degree Programmes alongside a multitude of short courses in Tourism, Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Food & Beverage Operations.
The institute serves approximately one hundred and sixty (160) full-time and part-time students annually and one hundred and twenty (120) students in its Continuing Education Programmes.
Accredited by the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) since 2014. THTI is presently the only ACTT accredited hospitality and tourism institute in Trinidad and Tobago – a status denoting educational quality. As a result, our Associate Degree graduates can further their studies anywhere in the world.
THTI uses its institutional knowledge to provide information, innovation and inspiration to the industry. Nestled within farming and fishing communities of Blenheim, Mt. St. George, Tobago, our campus is located on a 100-acre estate of pristine forest lands overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The institute is equipped with one of the largest commercial kitchens in the Caribbean region and regularly hosts international culinary experiences such as fine dining and wine tastings.
To be the beacon for innovative learning experiences.
THTI exists to provide unparalleled, diverse educational opportunities and empowerment while expanding and strengthening partnerships.
The Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (THTI) was founded in 1997 to address the need for trained professionals in the growing tourism and hospitality industries to compete in a globally competitive market alongside other Caribbean islands.
In 2006, THTI fully implemented the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) Caribbean Tourism Learning Systems (CTLS) Core Curriculum programme, aligning courses with those taught at other institutions throughout the region. The curriculum enables students to transfer between tourism training organizations seamlessly, and more importantly, offers a broader range of employment opportunities.
In 2009, THTI became the first indigenous Tobago institution to be registered with the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT). In 2014 THTI was awarded Institutional Accreditation and re-accredited in 2019 for an additional five years. Presently, THTI is among approved and accredited educational institutions, and the only ACTT accredited hospitality and tourism institution in Trinidad & Tobago.
